PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee (POC) president Ricky Vargas and chairman Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino were sworn into office by President Duterte on Monday in Malacanang.
The oath-taking ceremony came on the eve of the POC’s first board meeting under Vargas’ administration at the POC office in Pasig City.
The POC was supposed to hold its first board meeting on Monday but had to reschedule following the scheduling of the oath-taking.
“The President’s schedule opened up so mag-ooath taking sila,” Foreign Affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, the chairman of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee, said on Saturday.
Cayetano said he will have a formal meeting with Vargas about the country’s hosting of the SEA Games.
