PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker when the Philippine National Games opens on May 19 at the Abellana Sports Complex in Cebu City.
“With much appreciation, we are glad that President Duterte has accepted our invitation,” said PSC commissioner Ramon Fernandez during Wednesday’s press conference.
The PSC said it has also invited Foreign Affairs secretary and Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chairman Alan Peter Cayetano, Cabinet secretary Jun Evasco, and Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas have also been invited in the opening rites.
“It will inspire the more than 9,000 participating athletes from various local government units,” said Fernandez.
Nineteen sports will be played in the PNG wherein national athletes will also be seeing action until May 25 in various parts of Cebu City and nearby cities and towns.
