ALYSSA Valdez showed the way as usual as PLDT Home Ultera whipped Fourbees-Perpetual, 25-20, 25-17, 25-13, on Tuesday to complete a sweep of its seven elimination-round matches in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Ateneo star Valdez scored 13 points, while Jaja Santiago added 10 for the Ultra Fast Hitters, who had earlier secured a semifinal spot.
It was a huge win for PLDT as the league takes a 10-day break as the country hosts the Asian Under 23 Women’s Championship, but coach Roger Gorayeb stressed there’s still a lot of work ahead.
“Wala naman, 7-0, we still have to work hard pa rin to reach the Top 2,” said Gorayeb.
Valdez, Santiago and Gretcel Soltones are playing for the Philippines in the Asian U23 event set May 1 to 9 at the Philsports Arena.
“Magre-rest muna kami pero balik ensayo rin agad sa Monday kasi mahirap na mawawala sa kondisyon ang mga bata,” said Gorayeb.
Jamela Suyat scored 10 for Fourbees-Perpetual, which suffered its fourth loss in six matches.
