DARWIN, Australia – The Philippines scooped up eight more gold medals in the second day of competitions of the 2019 Arafura Games.
Swimming accounted for five of the victories while athletics added three, giving the Philippines a total of 18 gold medals after Sunday’s competition.
Lora Micah Amogius captured her third gold in the women’s 4x100m medley relay, while Mark Anthony Casenas claimed his second gold by winning the men’s long jump.
Franz Gela Bintad won the gold in the women’s javelin throw, while Eliza Cuyom bagged first place in the women’s 100m hurdles.
The Philippines now turns its attention to other fronts at the end of the athletics competition at the Marrara Track Oval and swimming competitions at the Parap Swimming Pool.
