HAYLEE Garcia captured all five individual gold medals in the FIG junior women’s artistic gymnastics events of the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships at the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines Training Center in Intramuros, Manila on Monday.
The 16-year-old Garcia, based in Arizona and representing the Pasig City LGU in the Batang Pinoy, dominated the FIG junior competition by ruling the individual all-around, balance beam, floor exercise, uneven bars, and vault.
Garcia is one of the bright prospects of Philippine gymnastics as member of the junior national team, having already competed in the Asian Juniors Gymnastics Championship in Singapore last year.
Garcia scored 46.9 in the individual all-around to win the gold over Llya Clarysse Escoses of Binan (41.25) and Gilanah Raine San Pedro of Mandaue (35), while topping all the four apparatuses in the competition.
Garcia recorded 11.85 in the balance beam to defeat Geanne Alexa Rallos of Mandaue (10.3) and Escoses (9.6), and captured the title in the floor exercise with a score of 12.6 to reign over Rallos (10.5) and Escoses (10.3).
Garcia topped the uneven bars with 10.9, with Escoses and San Pedro taking the next two places with 9.65 and 6.95.
She also tabbed the vault title with 11.775, beating Escoses (11.225) and Jamila Jane Maga of Ilocos Norte (10.375).
Maga led Ilocos Norte’s victory in the team championship, as Kirsten Lien Calipio and Angel Brub defeated General Santos City.
