NESTHY Petecio and EJ Obiena got the two spots in the five-person Philippine Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission during elections held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.
The two Tokyo Olympians were the top two vote getters with Petecio, the 2020 silver medalist, accumulating 121 and Obiena receiving 99 votes in the POC’s consultative and advisory body composed of athletes.

Also voted to be part of the Commission were swimming’s Jessie Khing Lacuna (83), basketball’s Jack Animam (80), and football’s Inna Palacios (61).
The five will serve the Athletes’ Commission until 2028.
Petecio and Lacuna actually got a fresh mandate after being part of the Athletes Commission in the previou term along with Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, triathlon’s Nikko Huelgas, softball’s Cheska Altomonte, taekwondo’s Samuel Morrison, and rugby’s Jake Letts.
