The 41-year-old Mangliwan placed fourth in Heat 1 with a time of one minute, 3.41 seconds, but still enough to earn a spot in the medal round after submitting the next two fastest times after the top three finishers in each of the two heats.

The wheelchair racer repeated his performance in the 2016 Paralympic Games where he made it to the finals of the same event and finished seventh.
