GARY Bejino finished last out of 17 competitors in the men’s 200m individual medley SM6 of the 2020 Paralympic Games at the Tokyo Aquatics Center on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Bejino clocked three minutes, 17.19 seconds to place last among six swimmers in Heat 2 of the S6 category (physical disability) at the start of the Philippine campaign in the Paralympic Games.
Nelso Crispin Corzo of Colombia had the best time among all the competitors with a time of 2:43.07. Also qualifying for the final are Andrei Ganichka of Russian Olympic Committee, Jia Hongguang of China, Bermudez Gutierrez of Mexico, Yang Hong of China, Talisson Henrique Glock of Brazil, Zach Shattuck of the United States, and Wang Jingang of China.
Bejino, a two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, returns to the pool on Monday for the men’s 50m butterfly S6.
Ernie Gawilan will see action on Friday in the men’s 200m individual medley SM7.
