THE Philippine delegation that competed in the 2018 Asian Para Games returned to Manila on Sunday.
Leading the delegation that returned home on Sunday were Sander Severino of chess and Ernie Gawilan of swimming, who led the Philippines’ assault after the country won 10 gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals.
The Philippines not only surpassed its 0-5-5 tally in the 2014 edition in Incheon, it also placed 11th in the medal tally — a huge improvement from the 24th position four years ago.
Severino tabbed four gold medals in the quadrennial showpiece after winning the men’s individual standard, men’s individual rapid, men’s team standard and men’s team rapid.
Gawilan ruled the men’s 200-meter individual medley, men’s 50-meter freestyle and men’s 400-meter freestyle.
Also winning their events were the men’s standard team in chess, Kim Ian Chi of bowling and Arthus Bucay of cycling.
