ERNIE Gawilan and Josephine Medina captured silver medals for the Philippines on Tuesday in the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
After winning the country’s first-ever gold in the Asian Para Games on Sunday, Gawilan added another medal, placing second in the men’s 100-meter freestyle S7 won by Singapore’s Toh Wei Soong.
Medina, meanwhile, reached the finals of the women’s singles TT8 in table tennis but the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games bronze medalist bowed to Mao Jingdian of China, 11-8, 11-3, 11-6, in the battle for the gold.
The Philippine delegation now has a 2-4-4 gold-silver-bronze medal output following Tuesday’s action in Indonesia.
Godfrey Taberna added a bronze on Tuesday after placing third in the men’s road race C4.
Gawilan placed second with a time of one minute, 6.74 seconds with Toh winning the gold with a time of 1:03.16. The silver added to Gawilan's gold medal in the men's 200-meter individual medley, and silver in the men's 50-meter freestyle.
