ALVIN Patrimonio is helping spread awareness about the Filipino differently-abled athletes’ feats and is hoping they can earn as much recognition and support as their able-bodied counterparts.
The PBA great and former national team member lauded the Philippine team for a solid finish in the Asean Para Games in Kuala Lumpur, finishing with 20 gold, 20 silver and 29 bronze medals.
"Naging athlete din ako dati. And yung makita mong they're giving their best and doing their best for their country, it means a lot to me," said Patrimonio.
"Theyre serving our country kahit mayroon silang disability. Talagang makikita mo yung character, yung puso nila na mabigyan ng honor ang ating bansa," said Patrimonio.
The Star Hotshots team manager graced the formal launch of Alay Para Atleta, a mobile donation service to raise funds for Filipino differently-abled athletes.
The mobile service is a project of the Philippine Paralympic Committee-Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled in partnership with a mobile solutions company.
"It's about time talaga na suportahan natin sila. Mahirap din pinagdadaanan nila. Yung training nila mahirap din, so let's honor them and thank them salahat ng efforts na binigay nila."
"Wake up call ito na kailangan nating magbigay ng support sa para athletes," he said.
