AGUSTINA Bantiloc finished last among 28 competitors during the ranking round of the women’s individual compound open of the 2024 Paralympic Games archery competitions in Paris.
Bantiloc scored 618 that included 17 10’s and 2 X’s on the target to take the 28th and final spot in the ranking round, putting herself in a tough task of overcoming Jane Karla Gogel of Brazil in the knockout rounds.
Bantiloc faces No. 5 seed
Gogel took the fifth seed in the ranking round with a score of 691 which included 47 10’s and 15 X’s.
Bantiloc will face Gogel on Friday, 9:17 a.m. local time (3:17 p.m. Manila time) still at the Invalides.
The 56-year-old Bantiloc earned a Paralympic berth through the Bipartite Commission Invitation given by the International Paralympic Committee and the international federation of the sport concerned.
Before the day of the competition, Bantiloc carried the flag with para swimmer Ernie Gawilan in the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, Hangzhou Asian Para Games gold medalist Jerrold Mangliwan sees action on Friday in the men’s 400m T52 round 1 heat 1 at the Stade de France.
Mangliwan will look to take a seat in the finals that goes to the top three finishers in the two heats and the racer with the next two fastest times.
The wheelchair racer took the gold in last year’s Asian Para Games in thrilling fashion, beating Japan’s Ueyonabaru Hirota by only 0.25 seconds in the same event.
