ADELINE Dumapong-Ancheta claimed a bronze medal on Thursday in the 2018 Asian Para Games powerlifting competition in Balai Sudirman in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Ancheta, the first Filipina to win a medal in the Paralympic Games, placed third in the women’s 86kg division after lifting 107 kilograms.
Lee Hyunjung of Korea took the gold after a 118, while Sriyanti Sriyanti of Indonesia captured the silver with a 118.
Ancheta, who bagged a bronze in the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, emerged as the seventh bronze medalist of the Philippines in the Asian Para Games.
The Philippines now has a 6-6-7 gold-silver-bronze tally to occupy 12th place in the medal standings.
