BANTAY, Ilocos Sur — National Capital Region beat Mimaropa, 7-1, on Saturday to winthe 2018 Palarong Pambansa secondary baseball gold.
NCR pulled away in the sixth inning with five runs to capture the title by winning all seven of their matches.
NCR has seven players from Muntinlupa, three from Manila and two from Marikina.
Despite a sweep, NCR coach Edward Flores said it was a hard-earned title as the team trained for two months.
“Dumaan kamisa butas ng karayom para makuha ‘yung championship,” said Flores.
Calabarzon beat Soccsksargen, 9-3, in the bronze medal match
In softball, Calabarzon claimed the secondary softball crown with a 10-0 win over NCR. Western Visayas defeated Central Visayas, 10-2, in the battle for third place.
