Eagles and Tigers stamp class in UniGames

Ateneo, UST score second straight wins in UniGames

ATENEO came up with a more convincing win after an opening-day squeaker, while UST scored a second straight rout on Tuesday in the University Games men’s basketball tournament in Bacolod City.

The five-time defending UAAP champions Eagles defeated Holy Cross of Davao City, 94-67, while runners-up Tigers downed Ateneo de Davao University, 101-79.

The Eagles, who lead Group C with a 2-0 win-loss mark, are coming off a pulsating 56-54 win over University of San Jose-Recoletos in their opening game on Monday. Group leaders UST beat John B. Lacson Maritime University, 97-70.

In Tuesday's other men’s basketball game, University of the East drubbed University of San Agustin, 111-64.

In women’s play, National University trounced University of Saint La Salle, 138-26; College of St. Benilde beat Holy Cross of Davao City, 67-41; and UST beat Rizal Technological University, 66-54.

In women’s volleyball, UAAP champion La Salle defeated Jose Maria College in straight sets.
