VIGAN, Ilocos Sur — Davao City has been selected as the host of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.
Davao City won the bid to host the annual athletic meet for elementary and secondary schools over Zamboanga Del Sur, Misamis Occidental, and General Santos City, Department of Education secretary Leonor Briones said on Saturday.
Davao City officials said they are prepared for the Palaro hosting as Mayor Sara Duterte has been preparing for the event since 2016.
Davao City was previously considered as host of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games before Philippine organizers decided on holding the bienniel meet in Clark.
