    Team USA dealt blow as Griffin ruled out

    THE United States men’s basketball team routed Dominican Republic, 113-59, in Las Vegas in the first of a series of exhibition games leading up to the 2012 London Olympics.

    Kevin Durant had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Andre Iguodala had 18 points and Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 13 for the Americans.

    Meanwhile, Blake Griffin will miss the Olympics due to a meniscus tear in his left knee, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    USA Basketball said in a statement that Griffin experienced discomfort during a scrimmage game in training camp.

    New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, the first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, has reported to training to replace Griffin.
