INTERNATIONAL travel restrictions have been imposed to national athletes and coaches by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) following the increasing number of cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The travel restrictions will start from Saturday until April 14 for national athletes and coaches, as well as its officials and employees.

The PSC said the board can still allow national athletes and coaches to travel abroad, but only for emergency cases or international competitions.
Athletes and coaches who are set for Olympic qualifying events will have to seek endorsement from chef de mission Mariano ‘Nonong’ Araneta and the PSC board.

“Officials of the NSAs are encouraged to ensure the welfare and well-being of the national athletes and coaches in making requests for international competitions,” said the PSC in the policy directive signed by officer in charge Celia Kiram.
All athletes, coaches and officials who will travel abroad will also be required to undergo a self-quarantine for 14 days at home or at the North and South dormitories of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex upon return.
