President Duterte throws in additional P2 million incentive for Olympic heroine Hidilyn Diaz

PRESIDENT Duterte has thrown in an P2 million incentive for Hidilyn Diaz for winning a silver medal in the weightlifting competitions of the Rio De Janeiro Olympics.

Duterte announced the additional incentives during a courtesy call by Diaz in Davao City.

With Duterte's announcement, Diaz will now receive a total of P7 million, with P5 million coming from the government through Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches and Trainers Benefits and Incentives Act.

Other pledges are also starting to come in, with the MVP Sports Foundation, through Al Panlilio, promising to help Diaz rehabilitate the gym she runs in his native Zamboanga City.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has also forged a partnership with a partner company that promised to reward the 25-year-old silver medalist with a brand-new house and lot.
