RIO DE JANEIRO — Marestella Torres-Sunang missed out on a finals berth in the Olympics women's long jump on Tuesday after a 6.22-meter effort in the qualifiers at the Maracana Stadium (Wednesday, Manila time).

Competing in her third and final Olympics, Torres-Sunang pulled off her best jump on her first try but faltered in her next two, leaping 6.10 and 6.15 meters against a high-quality field.

Brittney Reese topped Group B of the qualifying round where Torres-Sunang competed, going 6.78 meters on her first attempt.

The 35-year-old Torres-Sunang fell way short of her 6.72m jump in the Kazakhstan Open this year that gave her a ticket to her third Olympics.

As Torres-Sunang bowed out in her third and final Olympics, Kirstie Elaine Alora of taekwondo is left as the country's final medal hope in the quadrennial showpiece.

Alora will see action on Saturday.
