THE world was left in awe by Steph Curry's amazing shooting performance in the medal rounds of the Paris Olympics men's basketball competition, especially in the final minutes of Team USA's final against host France.

That includes his US teammates LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

"I've seen it before - in a different uniform. It's nice to be on his side," James said after seeing Curry hit four three-pointers in a span of 132 from the 2:35 mark to put away a 98-87 win over France and Team USA's 17th Olympic gold medal in men's basketball.

Curry started the game cold but was unstoppable as soon as he heated up. He made 8 three-pointers for 24 points in the gold-medal game - just days after making a record-tying nine treys in the nail-biting 95-91 semifinal win over Serbia on Friday.

That's a combined 17 three-pointers and 60 points in the medal round for the 36-year old, solidifying his status the best shooter of his time - and among the best ever.

His 8 treys were also the most by any player in an Olympic final.

"Steph was an out-of-body experience for me seeing him shoot over two people, hitting nine threes last game, eight threes this game," said Durant of his former Golden State Warriors teammate. "I'm just grateful to be a part of it."

It's not all Curry

Durant became the first player to win four Olympics men's basketball gold medals. His 518 points put him at No. 8 in the all-time scoring list.

"It was an incredible game and an incredible time here in Paris and Lille - so much support for the game of basketball," said Durant. "Grateful that I could do it with these two (Curry and US coach Steve Kerr) again."

Asked if anybody can top his four gold medals, Durant said, "Yeah ... Records are meant to be broken."

For James, the thrilling finale was a fitting end to an Olympic career that took a turn for the better with the Redeem Team in 2012. But the acknowledged leader of Team USA doesn't see him playing for the countrys beyond this.

"Nah, I can't see myself playing in LA [Olympics in 2028]. But I also couldn't see myself playing in Paris," he said. "Four years from now, no, I can’t see myself playing."
