JORDAN will be the new host of the Asia-Oceania Boxing Qualifying Tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Boxing Task Force announced the selection of the Arab country as host of the event set March 3 to 11.
The IOC sent a formal communique to the Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) on Saturday regarding the matter.

The tournament was originally set Feb 3-14 in Wuhan, China, but had to be moved to another country following the outbreak of the coronavirus in the Chinese province
The Philippines had strongly appealed to the IOC to have the qualifier moved to other country as it likewise bid to host the event.
India and Thailand also expressed intention to stage the qualifier.
"After careful consideration of all alternatives, the BTF (Boxing Task Force) decided to approve the proposal from the National Olympic Committee of Jordan and have officially released a statement announcing the decision," said the IOC in a letter to ABAP secretary general Ed Picson.
"We would like to thank ABAP for the support and offer to host the Asian-Oceania Olympic Boxing Qualification Event," part of the communique read.
"Your support and generous offer to host the event was greatly appreciated, and we know that we speak on behalf of the IOC and the entire boxing community when we say, thank you for your commitment to making sure the athletes have the chance to compete and qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo."
