JOANIE Delgaco missed out on a quarterfinals spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics rowing regatta after finishing fourth in her heat on Saturday at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

As such, Delgaco, the first Filipina rower to qualify to the Olympics, has been relegated to the repechage to determine the final rankings after a gallant stand in the 2000m race.

The 26-year-old Iriga City native was running third until Kostanjsek caught up in the final 600m.
Delgaco will continue her campaign on Sunday, 3 p.m. France time (Sunday, 9 p.m. Manila time) for the women’s single sculls repechage.
Karolien Florijin of Netherlands, one of the favorites to win the gold medal in the event, topped Heat 2 with a time of 7:36.90, followed by Aurelia-Maxima Katharina Janzen of Switzerland with a clocking of 7:41.15.
Also advancing to the quarterfinals was reigning champion Emma Twigg of New Zealand after finishing first in Heat 3 with a time of 7:34.97.
In the repechage, Delgaco will race in Heat 1 where she will look to advance to the quarterfinals with the top two scullers in each of the three heats progressing. Those who fail to make it will be relegated to the Semifinals E/F.
