JOANIE Delgaco's longshot bid to win a medal ended on Wednesday after she finished last out of six rowers in Heat Three of the women’s single sculls quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics.
Delgaco submitted a time of seven minutes, 58.30 seconds - nearly 32 seconds behind heat winner and reigning Olympic champion Emma Twigg of New Zealand.

Delgaco was relegated to the Semifinal C/D to determine the final rankings in the rowing regatta. The first-ever Filipina Olympic rower is already assured of a Top 24 finish after reaching the quarterfinals.
The Semifinal C/D is on Wednesday, 10:14 a.m. Paris time (4:14 p.m. Manila time)
Delgaco’s time was 3.30 seconds slower than her clocking in the repechage which she topped in 7:55.00 to clinch a berth in the quarterfinals.
In her first race in the Olympics, Delgaco clocked 7:56.26 in Heat 1.
The quarterfinal heat also included European champion Jovana Arsic of Serbia, who was overtaken by Virginia Rivas Diaz of Spain in the final 200 meters to miss a place in the Semifinal A/B, and her medal chance dashed.
Arsic ended up at No. 5 in the heat with a time of 7:56.18, two seconds ahead of Delgaco.
