JAYSON Valdez placed 44th among 47 shooters, missing the final of the men’s 10-meter air rifle of the Tokyo Olympic Games at the Asaka Shooting Range.
Valdez scored 612.6 points after six series of 10 shots. Only th top eight advance.
Yang Haoran of China notched a Qualification Olympic Record by amassing 632.7 points. He will be joined by Lucas Kozenieski of the United States, William Shaner of United States, Patrik Jany of Slovakia, and Omer Akgun of Turkey.
Vladimir Maslennikov of Russian Olympic Committee, Istvan Peni of Hungary, and Sheng Lihao of China also made it to the top eight.
The 25-year-old Valdez gained a ticket to Tokyo just a few weeks before the competition, receiving an Olympic quota place.
Before Valdez, Brian Rosario was the last Filipino shooter to compete in the Olympics.
