EUMIR Marcial got encouraging words from one of his idols by the name of former professional boxer Gennady Golovkin after his stinging loss in his first bout of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Marcial had a conversation with the former Kazakh pro fighter immediately after his unanimous decision defeat against Turabek Khabibullaev of Uzbekistan.
In a post on Facebook, Marcial said it was Golovkin, also known as 'Triple G', himself who approached him, and revealed that one of his words of encouragement is that he is a better boxer in the professional ranks.

“Hinahangaan kita sa loob ng boxing ring pero mas lalo kita hingaan sa baba ng boxing ring nong nilapitan mo ako para icheer up at mag bigay ng advice,” wrote Marcial on his Facebook page.
“And I’ll keep the words na sinabi mo saken na mas better ako sa professional boxing. Much respect champ GGG,” said Marcial of Golovkin, himself a silver medalist in the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Marcial has been splitting time as a professional boxer and a member of the national team in his desire to capture a gold medal for the Philippines in the Olympics.
But Marcial is now on the crossroads with the next Olympics being in four years time in Los Angeles.
Since turning pro in 2020, Marcial has fought five times and has won all of his bouts, four of which came via stoppage.
His most recent professional fight was last March when he beat Thoedsak Sinam of Thailand at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
