The plane bearing the double-gold medal winner in gymnastics and the other athletes taxied to Villamor Air Base at around 7:20 p.m. where officials from the Office of the President, mediamen, and students from a nearby school were waiting.
Wearing his two gold medals, Yulo was the last athlete to go down the stairs along with bronze medalist Nesthy Petecio, who was holding a Philippine flag. Yulo’s girlfriend Chloe San Jose, who was in the same flight, also gave him a kiss at the tarmac.

Bronze medalist Aira Villegas, EJ Obiena, Eumir Marcial, Carlo Paalam, Hergie Bacyadan, Elreen Ando, Vanessa Sarno, John Ceniza, John Cabang, and Lauren Hoffman were also on board the Philippine Airlines chartered flight that originated from Dubai and had a one-hour stopover in Bangkok.
Sam Catantan, Joanie Delgaco, Kiyomi Watanabe, Kayla Sanchez, and Jarod Hatch, who were already in Manila before the arrival of the athletes, were also present to welcome the remaining members of the delegation in Paris.

From Villamor Air Base, the delegation that also had Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino went straight to Malacanang Palace where a program is scheduled.
Most of the families of the athletes were also present at the tarmac to personally congratulate them.
Curiously, Yulo's parents Mark and Angelica were not part of the welcoming party. Yulo was instead welcomed by some members of the men's artistic gymnastics national team.
