BIANCA Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina will look to close the Philippine campaign in the 2024 Paris Olympics with a bang in the final round of women’s golf at the Le Golf National on Saturday.

Pagdanganan will tee off at 11:44 a.m. local time (5:44 p.m. Manila time), while Ardina will start the final round at an earlier time of 11:17 a.m. local time (5:17 p.m. Manila time).

Pagdanganan and Ardina are the last athletes from the Philippines who are still competing in the Olympics, which formally closes on Sunday.

The two Flipinas, campaigners in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour in the US, also seek a late charge for a podium finish in the final round - with the hopes of joining two-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo and bronze winners Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.

Pagdanganan stands on a share of 13th with a three-day total of 214, seven shots behind co-leaders Morgane Metraux of Sweden and Lydia Ko of New Zealand, and five off third-placers Rose Zhang of US and Miyu Yamashita of Japan.

Ardina, for her part, still has a lot of ground to cover, being at 23rd and 10 shots adrift.

Their campaign, however, has been marred by the Philippine team competing without their official uniforms, which Ardina revealed in a recent video that has gone viral.

In the video, Ardina was seen sticking a Philippine flag patch in her shirt using a double-sided tape, while voicing her frustration at the same time.

“Sana all, with uniforms. Kami lang ang wala. Kailangan bumili pa ng t-shirts. Diyos ko, ano bang klaseng Olympics ito?” she said.

The situation, though, seemed to have little effect on their performance with Pagdanganan in contention for a medal and Ardina scoring a 69 in the third round to move up in the rankings.

Even with their situation, the two Filipina golfers would still want to a favorable result.
