Abueva suspended, fined
Calvin Abueva will miss Magnolia's game against Phoenix on Friday.
CALVIN Abueva has been handed a one-game ban and fined P10,000 for his actions during Magnolia’s Philippine Cup game against Barangay Ginebra on Sunday.
The PBA announced the penalties two days after being ejected from the game following a second technical foul.
The 34-year-old Abueva, had an altercation with Nards Pinto in the second half, headed straight out of the MOA Arena while the game was still being played, and he was heard saying “Japan, Japan” and “Bye PBA.”
He later issued a challenge to the PBA in a social media post, saying he will leave Magnolia if a clear video of the incident can prove he was wrong, before taking down the message.

Tim Cone is back with Gilas.
THE Philippine national basketball team is getting back the winningest coach in the PBA.
Tim Cone is back with the Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) program director and coach Chot Reyes announced on Tuesday.

It is still uncertain what role Cone will be given as the Philippines prepares for the Fiba Basketball World Cup next year.

Cone last coached the Philippines during the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila in 2019, steering the PBA-backed national team to the gold medal.
