Tim Cone on Scottie Thompson: 'His value is unquestionable'
AS Scottie Thompson dodges question about the MVP title, coach Tim Cone weighed in on the do-it-all guard’s case for the top individual award for the season.
Hailed Best Player of the Conference and Finals MVP as Ginebra bagged the Governors’ Cup crown with a 4-2 series win over Meralco, Thompson averaged 14.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.1 steals, delivering when it mattered most for the Gin Kings.
“To me, he has been so valuable for us because of all the things that he does. He is totally a complete player in terms of what he does on the floor and what he does off the floor. He is a tremendous teammate. He is so easy to coach,” said Cone.
“Again, he has been so incredibly valuable to us and I think that’s the definition of an MVP, how valuable he is to the team. His value is unquestionable,” said Cone.
The top player awards of the Philippine Cup went to Calvin Abueva (BPC) and 30-year-old rookie Mikey Williams (Finals MVP).
