Jordan Clarkson update

JORDAN Clarkson is finally set to join the Philippine men’s basketball team in training for the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Gilas Pilipinas is leaving for China on Aug. 1 to play tune-up games and the Utah Jazz guard is expected to join the team by Aug. 6.
The Basketball World Cup starts on Aug. 25.
"With Jordan Clarkson on board, the SBP looks forward to a competitive showing against the best in our region," SBP president Al Panlilio said.
Sotto attends practice
KAI Sotto joined the shootaround but has yet to join Gilas Pilipinas practice as the team met on Tuesday at the Meralco gym.
It was the second time Sotto attended practice since arriving from the US last week.
The 21-year-old center’s back tightened up during his stint with the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League and earlier reports said he is waiting for the doctors’ green light to resume training.
"Siguro we'll wait for a few more days kung kelan siya magte-training," said Gilas assistant coach Jong Uichico.
JB for Asiad

JUSTIN Brownlee is set to see action for the Philippine men’s basketball team in the Hangzhou Asian Games in September.
With Jordan Clarkson filling the spot for a naturalized citizen for the Philippines in the Fiba Basketball World Cup, Brownlee is being lined up for the Asiad.
Coach Chot Reyes announced during the pep rally for the men’s and women's national teams on Tuesday that the 35-year-Brownlee will be the one to play for Gilas in Hangzhou.
Philippines in must win match
SWITZERLAND and Norway played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday, with the former staying in the Group A lead on a slim margin with four points and the latter in the bottom with one point from four matches in the Women’s World Cup.
The Philippines, which won over New Zealand on a Sarina Bolden goal, has three points from two matches and sits in third spot and faces a must-win pool play game.
New Zealand also has three points but has second place on goal difference.
The two teams that will advance to the knockout stages will be determined on Sunday, when Norway takes on the Philippines while Switzerland battles New Zealand.
