San Miguel sweeps Converge

SAN Miguel arranged a PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal showdown with guest team Bay Area, eliminating Converge with a 120-107 win on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
Terrence Romeo scored 22 points and Devon Scott added 20 as the fifth-seeded Beermen swept the No. 4 team FiberXers in the best-of-three quarterfinal series.
The best-of-five semifinals start on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena.
Jeron Teng came up with 25 points and Quincy Miller added 24 for Converge.
Bay Area, which topped the eliminations with a 10-2 win-loss record, beat Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals, 126-96.
Ginebra eliminates NorthPort

BARANGAY Ginebra advanced to the semifinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, defeating NorthPort, 99-93, on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
Justin Brownlee had 20 points and Scottie Thompson added 15 as the third-seeded Gin Kings completed a sweep of No. 6 Batang Pier in the best-of-three series.
Ginebra takes on No. 2 Magnolia in the best-of-five semifinals starting on Wednesday.
Jeff Chan led NorthPort with 20 points, while Kevin Ferrer added 18 for the Batang Pier.
Double blow for Batang Pier

NORTHPORT suffered a double blow in the Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday with rookie William Navarro hurting his knee.
Navarro left Saturday’s game in the first quarter and was unable to return. He had 10 points.
A team insider said Navarro was brought straight to the hospital.
