    Brownlee takes oath of allegiance

    A DAY after leading Ginebra to the Commissioner’s Cup title, Justin Brownlee took his oath of allegiance to the Philippines.

    The bill granting Filipino citizenship to Brownlee was signed into lay by President Marcos Jr. last week and on Monday the Gin Kings star made his oath before Sen. Francis Tolentino at the Senate.

    The 34-year-old Brownlee is expected to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the February window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers and in the Southeast Asian Games.

    BAY Area now sets its sights on the East Asia Super League after a runner-up finish in its stint as PBA guest team.

    The Commissioner’s Cup second placer will take a week off before returning to practice.

    The EASL Champions Week is set March 1 to 5 in Japan.

    Negotiations are still ongoing for Bay Area to return as a guest team in the PBA.

    Gearing up for Governors’ Cup

    Rain or Shine posted a slim 122-120 victory over Meralco in a tuneup game ahead of the season-ending Governors’s Cup.

    Michael Qualls, who played for NorthPort in the 2019 Governors’ Cup, scored 53 points and had six rebounds and three blocks for the Elasto Painters.
