Hidilyn delivers again
HIDILYN Diaz is Olympic gold medalist and world champion, but it doesn’t automatically make her the top favorite in Paris 2024.
Diaz claimed three gold medals in the IWF World Championships in Bogota, topping the snatch, clean and jerk, and total with 207 kilograms total in the 55kg category with 93 kg in the snatch and 114 kg in the clean and jerk.
However, she is expected to move up in weight class for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Diaz competed at 58kgs earlier in her career including in the 2008 Beijing Olympics where saw action as a wild card entry. Now 31, she is now set to give the division another try in what is likely her final Olympics.
Brandon Rosser update
BRANDON Rosser is expected to be back in action in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
MCL injury has been ruled out, but The NLEX big man is out at least a month due to a hyperextended left knee.
He is currently not allowed to do court drills.
The 28-year-old Fil-Am sustained the injury in the third quarter of the knockout game for No. 8 against Rain or Shine following an accidental collision with teammate Kevin Alas.
Rain or Shine eliminated NLEX, 110-100.
John Amores turns pro
SUSPENDED indefinitely by the NCAA, John Amores has joined basketball team Zamboanga Valientes.
The controversial forward, dropped by Jose Rizal University from its roster of student-athletes after his rampage in a game against College of St. Benilde, had two playing years left in college before signing with the Valientes.
Zamboanga is set to participate in the Asean Basketball League Invitational.
