KOREA defeated the Philippines, 71-80, in the battle for fifth place in the Fiba Women’s Asia Cup on Saturday at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.
Afril Bernardino had 16 points and was a rebound short of a double-double for the Philippines.
Jack Animam scored 12 and pulled down eight rebounds, while Khate Castillo also had 12 points.
Marikina coach in hot water

THE Games and Amusements Board is looking into the MPBL incident where Makina coach Elvis Tolentino was seen hitting Shoemasters player Felipe Chavez during a timeout.
A video clip from the Marikina game against Pasig on Tuesday has gone viral, with Tolentino seen striking Chavez in the stomach area during a timeout.
"We are committed to ensuring a fair and just resolution, and we assure you that GAB will take swift action based on the findings of the investigation. Our priority is to uphold the integrity of the MPBL and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved," the GAB said in a statement.
