WITH Jordan Clarkson in the country, the Philippine men’s basketball team is practically at full strength and set to shift training to high gearahead of the Fiba Basketball World Cup.

"… I'm relieved that he is here and, of course, I'm excited," said coach Chot Reyes.

Clarkson joins the team led by June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez, Jamie Malonzo and Dwight Ramos coming off a tune-up series in China where they went 3-1, sweeping Iran while splitting the games against Senegal.

Roger Pogoy, Chris Newsome, Japeth Aguilar, Calvin Oftana, AJ Edu, Rhenz Abando, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Thirdy Ravena and Kiefer Ravena also took part in the China tilt, while recovering from a hand injury is PBA Season 47 MVP Scottie Thompson.

JC meets SBP top brass

BEFORE joining the Philippine men’s basketball team, Jordan Clarkson met with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas bosses.

Clarkson and SBP chairman Emeritus Manny Pangilinan were seen at the Meralco Gym, where Gilas holds practices.

The Utah Jazz guard also met the SBP president Al Panlilio at the Meralco headquarters.

Clarkson, 31, arrived in Manila on Tuesday morning, the same day Gilas Pilipinas returned from Guandong.

THE PBA Draft is set Sept. 17, with the combine slated Sept. 12 and 13.

The combine will be held at Gatorade Hoops Dome in Mandaluyong City and the draft at Market! Market! in Taguig City.

The country’s premier pro league opens its 48th season with the Commissioner’s Cup on Oct. 15 at the Araneta Coliseum.

The second conference will be the Philippine Cup.

Season 48 is expected to run for six months.

Dragons return

COMMISSIONER’S Cup guest team Bay Area could play a home game in Hong Kong.

Talks are ongoing, with initial plans giving the Dragons three home games in the elimination round.

It is still uncertain how the games will be shown in the Philippines.

The PBA is also preparing for Ginebra, TNT and Bay Area's participation in the East Asia Super League.
