Senegal overcomes Gilas

SENEGAL rallied in the fourth period to beat the Philippines, 72-64, in the Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament on Friday night in Guandong, China.
The Senegalese notched their second win in the pocket tournament, while Gilas Pilipinas slid to 1-1.
The Filipinos earlier beat the team from Iran, 76-65.
Senegal is not seeing action in the Fiba Basketball World Cup but is preparing for the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
June Mar Fajardo had 14 points, while Dwight Ramos and CJ Perez had 11 points each.
The Filipinos play Senegal again on Sunday and Iran on Monday.
Letran taps Oliver Almadro

OLIVER Almadro has been tapped to lead Letran in its quest to end a long run of futility.
Champion coach for three straight seasons with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP men’s tournament and also a winner with the women’s squad, Almadro is tasked to get the Letran women’s squad in contention after 10 seasons of missing the Final Four.
Letran last won the NCAA women’s title 24 years ago.
