Brownlee takes a break

JUSTIN Brownlee will play in China – in Hangzhou and not in Guandong.
The naturalized Filipino is being given time to rest as the Philippine basketball team takes part in a pocket tournament in Guandong from Aug. 2 to 6 as part of the preparations for the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Brownlee was not around when the national team practiced at the Meralco gym on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old Brownlee will return to action for Gilas Pilipinas for the Asian Games in Hangzhou set to open on Sept. 23.
Hotshots score sweep
JAMES Laput scores 16 on 7 of 12 shooting as Magnolia defeated Terrafirma, 106-92, on Wednesday in San Juan to complete a sweep of the PBA on Tour.
Joseph Eriobu shot 5 for 7 and wound up with 15 points as the Hotshots made it 11-0 in the preseason exhibition.
Andreas Cahilig scored 14 and was a rebound short of a double-double, while Javi Gomez de Liano also had 14 points for Terrafirma.
The Dyip finished with a 4-7 win-loss record.
Road Warriors down Tropang Giga

ANTHONY Semerad had 23 points, shooting 9 for 16, to power NLEX past TNT, 97-84, on Wednesday in the PBA on Tour in San Juan.
Clint Doliguez scored 16 and Don Trollano came off the bench to match the output as the Road Warriors notched their fifth win in 10 games.
Carl Bryan Cruz scored 26, going 8 for 17 including 7 for 14 from the three-point line, for TNT.
The Tropang Giga suffered their ninth loss in 10 outings.
