Bay Area closes in on finals

ANDREW Nicholson scored 34 points and hauled down 16 rebounds as Bay Area overpowered San Miguel, 114-95, in Game Two of the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals on Friday at the Philsports Arena.
The Canadian forward hit 6 of 9 shots from beyond the arc as the guest team from Hong Kong hit 17 of 30 three-point attempts in closing in on a spot in the finals.
Kobey Lam had 25 points, making four triples, for Bay Area.
June Mar Fajardo had 35 points and 10 rebounds for the Beermen, Marcio Lassiter added 15 and Devon Scott came up with 14 points.
Hotshots even series

PAUL Lee grabbed a loose ball and tossed it over Justin Brownlee for the last-gasp game-winner as Magnolia nipped Barangay Ginebra, 96-95, on Friday in the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.
The Hotshots evened the series in another nailbiting finish after a three-point win by Ginebra in the opener of the best-of-five series.
Lee wound up with 24 points, while Nick Rakocevic added 23 for the Hotshots.
Brownlee led Ginebra with 34 points, while Stanley Pringle came up with 17 markers.
Game Three is on Sunday.
Zavier Lucero out with torn ACL

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines will be without Zavier Lucero in the UAAP men’s basketball title decider against Ateneo due to an ACL tear.
Lucero sustained the injury while driving to the basket in the fourth quarter of Game Two won by Ateneo, 65-55.
Game Three is set on Monday at the Araneta Coliseum.
