NAINA Dominique Tagle of Dumaguete won seven gold medals to become the most bemedaled athlete so far in the Batang Pinoy Visayas leg at the Western Visayas State University in Iloilo.
Tagle, younger sister of Youth Olympic Games qualifier Nicole, captured the Olympic round on Thursday, completing the sweep of all the events in archery. The 10-year-old also won the 20-meter, 30-meter, 40-meter, 50-meter, single Fita, and mixed team events.
Tagle actually competed in the 13-15 year old division but left her much older opponents in the shade.
“It was nerve-wracking because I don’t know how good the opponents are and I’m younger than them,” said the Grade 5 student from Silliman University.
Another Dumaguete product, Prisa Helen Lofranco, wound up with six gold medals after ruling the girls’ cadet final.
