FILIPINO athletes couldn't have it this good.
President Duterte on Wednesday formally signed the law establishing a modern sports complex for national athletes, otherwise known as the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC).
Republic Act No. 11214 is in line with the government's policy 'to promote and develop sports in the country.'
It was signed by the President last Feb. 14, but was only officially presented on Wednesday in a ceremony in Malacanang.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William 'Butch' Ramirez considered the passing of the law as a 'tremendous motivator' for a sports leader.
"It's not easy. But we are given this opportunity to shape the Philippine sports training center," said Ramirez, who attended the event along with his four commissioners.
A total of P3.5 billion is needed to build the new training center.
The PSTC comes just as another modern sports facility is being constructed at the new Clark Green City in Capas and Bamban, Tarlac to be used as the main hub for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
