CAGAYAN Valley adjusted well in the absence of imports Patcharee Saengmuang and Amporn Hyapha as it bested PLDT Home Telpad in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17, 27-25, in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Foreign Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.
Former University of Santo Tomas standout Aiza Maizo finished with 15 points, ex-San Beda ace spiker Janine Marciano added 13, while Angge Tabaquero and Wenneth Eulalio contributed 10 each for the Lady Rising Suns.
Cagayan evened its record at 1-1 to tie PLDT at second spot.
“(Unlike last game) nakapag-adjust na kami sa line up namin na maglalaro kami na walang import,” said Cagayan coah Nes Pamilar, whose team bowed to Philippine Army, 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, 21-25, 13-15, on Tuesday, when the Lady Rising Suns were informed they won’t be allowed to field in Saengmuang and Hyapha as the two need to secure first an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the FIVB.
“Noong nakaraan kasi nalaman namin na hindi kami naglalaro ng may import noong mismong laro lang. Ngayon nakapaghanda kami,” he added.
Pamilar said Saengmuang and Hyapha had already been given their ITC, but will only see action for the team after October 16 as per FIVB rules.
“Actually pwede na sila maglaro kasi approved na ng FIVB ('yung ITC),” said Pamilar. “Pero kasi may rule sila (FIVB) na dapat nga pang national players lang, pero pati itong nga imports ko damay na kaya after October 16 pa sila pwede maglaro.”
Team captain Sue Roces delivered 15 markers for PLDT.
