MUNTINLUPA grabbed the early lead in the medal tally of the 2023 Batang Pinoy courtesy of its judokas.
Muntinlupa judokas won 10 golds and seven bronzes after the second day of the competitions, ahead of Quezon City (6-2-5), Zamboanga (6-2-0), and Pasig City (5-7-9).

Samara Vidor (juvenile 12-14 years old -48kg girls), Samiro Vidor (9-11 years old -46kg boys), Unice Nacida (9-11 years old -28kg girls), Bella Nacida 9-11 years old -44kg girls), Prince Parungao (9-11 years old -42kg boys), Matthew Villaganza (9-11 years old -38kg boys), Sophia Nicole Novino (juvenile 12-14 years old -48kg girls), Jonah Duata (juvenile 12-14 years old -40kg girls), Isaiah Miguel (juvenile 12-14 years old -46kg boys), and Miguel Tecson (juvenile 12-14 years old -38kg boys) accounted for Muntinlupa’s gold medal haul.
Jonas Estrellano, Franchesca Morales, Rhain Dela Cruz, Sam Daniel Guevarra, Mark Lincoln Arnaiz, Axcel Carlos, and JC Labrador took the bronze.
In other results, Pasig’s Arvin Taguinota became a multiple gold medalist after winning two out of his three titles on Tuesday in the swimming competition.
The 12-year-old Taguinota won the boys 12-and-under 50m backstroke with a time of 31.15 seconds and the boys 12-and-under 100m backstroke with a clocking of one minute, 5.63 seconds.
Lifters boost Zamboanga
He already won the boys eight-to-12 years old 200m individual medley on Monday.
Zamboanga continued to shine in weightlifting with Kyle Jasper Bitong crowned as champion in the 13 to 15 years old boys 49kg division with a total lift of 152 kilograms, 43 ahead of second placer Kharan Balinayan of Ifugao.
