THE International Olympic Committee (IOC) will send an observer for the July 18 extraordinary general assembly of the Philippine Olympic Committee.
The POC is set to form of the election committee for the July 28 special elections.
The IOC said in a letter that it will send Narinder Dhruv Batra as the IOC and Olympic Council of Asia representative for the July 18 extraordinary general assembly.
Expected to be finalized in the extraordinary general assembly is the appointment of former Comelec commissioner and former PPCRV chairman Rene Sarmiento as chairman of the POC election committee by the executive board.
Letran athletic director and NCAA Management Committee member Fr. Vic Calvo is also part of the election committee.
The positions of president, chairman, and two board members will be contested in the special elections on July 28 after Ricky Vargas, Bambol Tolentino, Clint Aranas, and Cynthia Carrion stepped down from their positions.
Tolentino and Aranas will reportedly run for the presidency. The winner will take charge of the POC until 2020.
