ILOILO City bagged the overall title in the 2019 Batang Pinoy Visayas leg that ended on Saturday.
Iloilo City won 49 gold, 40 silver and 39 bronze medals to take the top spot in the medal tally, unseating last year’s Visayas leg champion Cebu City, which finished with a 34-46-48 gold-silver-bronze tally.
Kimberly Colaste contributed to the medal haul of Iloilo City after completing a three-gold sweep in chess on Saturday at the Iloilo Sports Complex Covered Gym.
Colaste topped the girls’ 12-under blitz event, adding to the standard and rapid wins the 11-year-old took last Friday.
“I wasn’t nervous, but I wasn’t certain also that I would still win,” said Colaste, who made her Batang Pinoy debut this year.
Iloilo City also ruled the girls’ basketball tournament, beating Cebu Province, 78-72.
Alain Vincent Dominguez and Levee Marie Oliva also won a gold in the table tennis mixed doubles for Iloilo.
