THE Gilas Women’s team followed the same path taken by its men’s counterpart when it likewise won its first two games in the 3x3 event of the 2026 Asian Beach Games on Saturday.
Mikka Cacho steered the Filipinas past Southeast Asian rival Indonesia, 15-11, and then scored a fitting follow up by routing Macau, 21-9, at the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium.
The twin victories put Gilas on top of Group C at 2-0, duplicating the same feat made earlier by the Philippine men’s team, which stunned host China, 21-18, before adding Macau to its list of victims.

Reynalyn Ferrer and Gabriell Bade finished with eight and seven points, respectively in the blowout win over Macau.
Kaye Pingol is the other member of the team.
Indonesia, the 3x3 women’s gold medal winner in last year’s Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, scored a bounced back win over Kyrgyzstan, 16-11, to even its record at 1-1.
The Indonesians, however, didn’t send the same team that topped the SEA Games in December.
Macau tied Indonesia at 1-1 with a 14-11 win against Kyrgyzstan, which stayed winless at 0-2.
Gilas Women can formalize its entry in the knockout quarterfinals should it beat Kyrgyzstan on Monday.
