GILAS Pilipinas is set to receive P1 million as incentive from the Philippine Sports Commission during a thanksgiving dinner to be tendered for Filipino athletes who brought glory to the country in international competitions.
The PSC will hold the affair on Saturday night where the highlight will be the handing out of cash incentives to Filipino achievers led by Gilas, who won a silver medal in the last Fiba-Asia championships in Manila.
Although they lost to Iran in the final, the runner-up finish allowed the nationals to clinch a place in the 2014 Fiba World Cup in Spain.
Also set to receive incentives are golfer Mia Legaspi and taekwondo jin Pauline Gomez, who won gold medals in the recently-concluded Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China, and medalists in the Asian junior wushu championships, Putra Cup, and other taekwondo and boxing competitions.
The cash incentives for the other sports are still being finalized as of posting time.
