FEU mainstay Jerrili Malabanan wastes no time making presence felt at BaliPure

    Apr 30, 2017

FAR Eastern University hitter Jerrili Malabanan was quick to fit in at BaliPure, grabbing a share of the spotlight in a squad featuring National University and San Sebastian stars.

Roger Gorayeb tapped players familiar with his system, getting his wards in the collegiate leagues to play at BaliPure in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

But Malabanan wasted no time making her presence felt at BaliPure, shining on opening day with a team that features National University players Risa Sato, Jasmine Nabor, Aiko Urdas and Jorelle Singh and San Sebastian’s Grethcel Soltones and Alyssa Eroa.

The FEU Lady Tamaraws mainstay scored 12 points as the Water Defenders defeated Air Force in the conference opener on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Malabanan is pleased to show her flexibility as she saw action with BaliPure after just three practices.

“‘Yung first day, it was kind of awkward but now, I think I've adjusted more because they're super welcoming,” said Malabanan.

The FEU spiker’s fine performance was also a timely boost for the team as Jeng Bualee and Jennifer Keddy were barred from playing as they have yet to secure International Transfer Certificates.

“We have less people on our team here so I think I have more of a chance to contribute,” she said.

Malabanan also shrugged off suggestions the solid performance means focus will be on her in the coming matches.

“No I don't think it puts more pressure on me, every game I forget about the last one and focus on the game that I have to play that day,” she said.
