KARL Jahriel Eldrew Yulo showed his potential as the future of Philippine gymnastics, completing a seven-gold sweep in the individual events of the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) competition at the Batang Pinoy on Wednesday.
Representing Manila, Yulo topped the Boys’ FIG Juniors 14-17 category, clinching top honors in all individual events, including vault, still rings, floor exercise, high bar, parallel bar, pommel horse, and the individual all-around, held at the GAP Gym in Intramuros, Manila.

The 15-year-old brother of two-time world champion Carlos Yulo, was poised to claim an eighth gold pending the official results of the team event.
There are plans for Yulo to participate in the seniors’ event at the Philippine National Games starting on Thursday, marking him as the next rising star following in the footsteps of his older brother Carlos, who secured gold in the floor exercise at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, and the vault exercise in the 2021 World Championships in Japan.
KARL BETTER THAN BROTHER CARLOS?
Their grandfather Rodrigo Frisco, credited with introducing the sport to Carlos, expressed confidence that Karl will surpass his older brother in skill.
“Mas magaling ito (Karl) kesa sa kanyang kuya,” Frisco said.
In Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) High Performance 1, Maria Celina Angela Gonzales from San Juan City shone, capturing four gold medals and a silver medal.

Gonzales excelled in the uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, and individual all-around, while securing silver in the vault exercise.
Tagum City's swimming team, composed of Hollie Bautista, Aluna Margauz Labrador, and Alessa Reese Solis, claimed victory in the team event.
PASIG SWIMMER BAGS 4TH GOLD
In the multi-event competition for 17-year-olds, Arvin Naeem Taguinota II from Pasig City continued his winning streak in swimming, earning his fourth gold medal.
Meanwhile, at the Tagaytay City BMX Park, Guimaras City celebrated two gold medals courtesy of Gremarc Gyan Dela Gente and Ben Rian Babica in the boys’ 14-15 and boys 16-17 categories, respectively.
Sisters Leila Anika and Jeanne Soleil Cervantes secured gold medals for Paranaque City in BMX Girls 13& Under and Girls 14-15 categories.
Emmanuel Redilla of the City of Imus emerged victorious in the boys’ 13 Under category.
