THE Ateneo Lady Eagles and their supporters are holding their breath as rookie Kat Tolentino undergoes an MRI scan on what doctors suspect was an ACL injury suffered over the weekend.
Shakey's V-League head Ricky Palou confirmed that noted orthopedic surgeon Raul Canlas fears the 6-2 Fil-Canadian has suffered an ACL injury in a freak accident during warm-ups ahead of the Lady Eagles' debut against the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses in the Collegiate Conference.
An MRI set at 10 p.m. on Tuesday will determine the true extent of the injury, Palou added.
"Sana naman hindi ACL injury, kawawa naman ang bata," Palou told Spin.ph on Tuesday. "We're keeping our fingers crossed."
Palou said the Lady Eagles were eagerly anticipating the debut of Tolentino, who she said was ranked No. 9 in the Vancouver area before red-shirting for the Lady Eagles last year.
"Magaling ang bata," Palou said.
An ACL injury will rule her out for the Lady Eagles' hat-trick quest in the UAAP women's volleyball tournament which is slated to begin in February.
